Definition of Descriptive Text
Descriptive text is writing that aims to describe or explain
an object, place, or situation in detail.
Descriptive Text Structure
1. Identification
Identification is the initial part that contains the
introduction of the name of the object, or a general description of what is
being described.
2. Description
Description is a detailed description from the author's
point of view of an object. The writer describes what he or she has seen,
heard, felt, held and smelled while observing the object. In the description
section, it can be more than 1 paragraph.
3. Conclusion
Conclusion is a section that contains conclusions or
impressions from the results of object observations. This conclusion is
optional or not required to be written.
Language Rules of Description Text
1. Adjective
Descriptive text is inseparable from adjectives. When describing an object, we must use adjectives, such as big, small, tall, and etc. To make it easier to describe an object, writers can use OSASCOMP.
2. Simple Present Tense
Simple present tense is used to express general facts or truths, as well as habits.
3. Adverb of Frequency
Adverb of Frequency is a useful adverb to show how often an activity is done.
